Corporate Fasting & The Daniel Fast for the 2013 New Year

The Daniel Fast for the 2013 New Year

It’s important that men, women and teens around the world start the New Year with an extended period of prayer and fasting..  It seems that the preferred method of fasting is the Daniel Fast, which is a partial fast where some foods are consumed and others are restricted.
There is no “official” date to start the 21-day New Year fast, but at Dana Marie Ministries,  New Destiny Christian Center and Paula White Ministries we started on January 2nd.
A corporate fast is when as few as three and as many as thousands of Christians join together for a period of prayer and fasting. Many church leaders call their congregations to a period of corporate prayer and fasting. Likewise, many leaders of Christian causes will ask those called to provoking change in the world through intercession to join in a corporate fast. During this time, those fasting will pray for God’s will to be accomplished in the matter for which they are praying.
But you don’t need to fast with other people. Many individuals choose to start the New Year with a period of prayer and fasting for personal needs or to pray for the needs of those who God has placed in their care. Many husbands and wives choose to start the New Year with prayer and fasting and if they have children who are old enough to be introduced to the spiritual discipline of prayer and fasting, it might be a family practice.
Personally, I think it’s wise to start the New Year with prayer and fasting. The purpose of fasting is to draw closer to God, to pray that His will be done, and to study the Word and the ways of the Lord. In these odd times you and I can either be controlled by circumstances and the tough times – or we can partner with the Lord and through our prayer release His will into our lives and our situations.
If you want to learn more about the Daniel Fast, receive a copy of the Daniel Fast Guidelines or find helpful resources that will assist you toward a successful fast, visit www.Daniel-Fast.com and join with hundreds of thousands of men, women and teens around the world as they focus their lives on God for a powerful period of prayer and fasting.

Daniel Fast Instructions

The Daniel Fast is a totally plant-based way of eating. It’s based on the fasting practices of the prophet’s fasting experiences as recorded in Daniel 1 and Daniel 10, along with typical Jewish fasting principles. So the fast is centered on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds and good quality oils (i.e. olive and canola).  You can also use herbs and seasonings.
The only beverage on the fast is water, but you can use juice and unsweetened soy milk (also rice, almonds, etc) on cereal or in recipes.
To learn more about the food lists, go to http://Daniel-Fast.com and request a copy of the Daniel Fast Guidelines and they will be emailed to you immediately.
Most people do the Daniel Fast for 21 days, however it is not a required length. Many fast for as few as seven days or for as many as 50.
There are no restrictions as to the amount of food you can eat on the Daniel Fast or when you can eat. However, we do want to keep in mind that this is a fast. So I encourage people to eat no more than three moderate meals and two small snacks.
For more information about the Daniel Fast, visit http://Daniel-Fast.com and review this blog. You can also find the Daniel Fast book and Cookbooks as the website.
Be blessed on your fast!

Apple Pie Baked in the Apples

I came across this recipe for Apple Pie Baked in the Apple from Heather Lindsey's post on Facebook.  Made it and yummy!!!!

Step 1: Cut off the top of 4 apples off and discard. Remove the inside of each apple with a spoon or melon baller very carefully, as to not puncture the peel.
If you’re a skilled interior apple excavator, salvage as much as you can so you can use it for Step 2.  I, on the other hand, am not skilled so I just had to throw my interior apples away and chop up additional apples for filling.
This recipe will make 4 baked apple pies (in the apple).
Step 2: Remove skin from remaining apple(s) and slice very thinly. These apple pieces will give you the additional filling needed to fill the four apples you are baking.
Mix sliced apples with sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. If you prefer more or less cinnamon make adjustments as desired. Same goes for the sugar.
Scoop sliced apples into hollow apples.
Step 3: Roll out pie crust and slice into 1/4 inch strips.  You can also add a strip of pastry inside the top of the apple almost like a liner to add a little more texture/sweetness to the pie.
Cover the top of the apple in a lattice pattern with pie crust strips.
Step 4: Place apples in an 8×8 pan.  Add just enough water to the cover the bottom of the pan.
Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown and sliced apples are soft.

How neat does that look? The entire thing is edible and best served with ice cream if you ask me.  Enjoy!

Day 5 of Fearlessly Fasting

It's day 5.  I have been having a hard time sleeping the past few nights.  My stomach is making all kinds of noise and having issues using the bathroom.  Wasn't sure if this is normal or not, but I feel a whole lot lighter on my feet.  I actually fit into jeans that I haven't worn in forever.  Let me be clear I'm not doing this to lose weight..I guess it's just the added perk of the cleanse.

I'm also doing 31 days of Prayer and once my new book comes I'll be following it up with Praise.  So excited.  While in bible study yesterday I was praying and fell into the spirit.  WOW even my tongue changed.  I'm in this to win this.  God has to move in my life.  Things haven't been moving and like I told my co-worker, if it is based off something I've done then I want to make sure I'm doing everything possible to hear clear from my Daddy, My God, My Healer, My Provider.  I declare my life is going to be different once this is over.

Figured once I'm done I would do away with some of my eating habits too.   First off no more red meat.  I don't eat it much, but I know it's time.  Absolutely done with coffee too.

Day 2 of my Fearlessly Fasting journey

Started my day off the same as yesterday Unsweetened Almond milk, banana and pineapple smoothie.   Prayed with prayer line from church @6-7am  on 760.569.7676 access code 166567.  Then with Girlfriends Pray  712-432-0075 Access code 128845# from 7-715am.

Today was so hard.  It was a co-workers birthday.  OMG!!!!  Cake looked so good especially when people who have low blood sugar crave sweets.  It was funny because not to make it totally known I haven't really spoken about what I'm doing to many.  A piece of the cake just appeared on my desk....LOL... I looked at it and thought maybe just take a bite and push it away.  Then I remembered this is a battle against my flesh and soul.  I pushed the cake away and had to say a little prayer asking God to please give me the strength to get through this.  As always our GOD never leaves us nor forsakes us RIGHT!!  (Deut 31:6).
I added something new today..Green tea is filled with antioxidants, prevents tooth decay and can also kill of bacteria.

I added something new today.   Green tea is filled with antioxidants, prevents tooth decay and can also kill of bacteria.

I also knew since I'd be making this change I would have to change a few things like my FREE time.  If we're going to make change we have to do it in areas which we know are critical.  For me, it is my emotional and physical well being which is the most important to me right now while taking this spiritual journey.  So, I decided to go to the gym for some light cardio.  What a great choice.  I got really tired after exactly 18 minutes and 52 seconds and split...LOL

When I got home I updated my social networks, chatted with some friends and got into the word to keep busy.  My stomach was making all kinds of noise tonight. They say it gets easier after day 4.  I pray so!

Fearlessly Fasting,

Deuteronomy 31:6

New Living Translation (NLT)
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lordyour God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Fasting "The WHY and The HOW"

I thought I would document my fast since this is truly my first REAL ONE.  We were asked at church to do a corporate fast and to pray for cycles to be reversed in our lives.  I anxiously accepted  because of where I'm at in my walk.  I have been doing research prior because I know fasting is good and bring s you closer to God if done correctly.

I'm reading Fasting Made Simple by my pastor Paula White  www.paulawhite.org which is helping me along my journey.

I started off my morning with a shake which i blended 8 oz. of unsweetened almond milk, a whole banana and a cup of frozen pineapples and a few cubes of ice.  I'm going to do this for the first few days just to get my body used to not eating the rest of the day.  I didn't want to send my body into shock being that I have low blood sugar.

After, I finished my shake I got into the word reading Isaiah 58, which is the preface to the book I'm reading.     Some people think it's just the fast which God wants, but that is so not the truth.  He is really watching our motives.  Are we doing it to brag on doing it or really coming to him  in deep prayer for change in a certain area(s)?  For me it is just the need to move into a deeper spiritual place with The Lord.  I'm praying for the cycles of depression, addiction, my family, my friends, my companies.  Just a radical and supernatural move of God to enter into my life right now.  You have to be ready for this and I pray if you take the journey with me you're just as blessed as I know I will be.

Oh yeah don't forget to take your vitamins.  Some may make you a little weezy being that we're doing this on an empty stomach though.  I'm using what is good for me. I'm not a doctor so consult your own before you start.

Blessing in Bundles,

Dana Marie

True and False Worship

58
“Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast.

    Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.

Tell my people Israel[a] of their sins!

    Yet they act so pious!
They come to the Temple every day
and seem delighted to learn all about me.
They act like a righteous nation
that would never abandon the laws of its God.
They ask me to take action on their behalf,
pretending they want to be near me.
‘We have fasted before you!’ they say.
    ‘Why aren’t you impressed?
We have been very hard on ourselves,
and you don’t even notice it!’
“I will tell you why!” I respond.

“It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves.
Even while you fast,
    you keep oppressing your workers.
What good is fasting
when you keep on fighting and quarreling?
This kind of fasting
will never get you anywhere with me.
You humble yourselves
by going through the motions of penance,
bowing your heads
like reeds bending in the wind.
You dress in burlap
    and cover yourselves with ashes.
Is this what you call fasting?
Do you really think this will please the Lord?
“No, this is the kind of fasting I want:

Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;

lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.
Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
“Then your salvation will come like the dawn,

and your wounds will quickly heal.

Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
Then when you call, the Lord will answer.
‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.
“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression.

Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!
10
Feed the hungry,
    and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
11
The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
    and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like an ever-flowing spring.
12
Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.
Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls
    and a restorer of homes.
13
“Keep the Sabbath day holy.

Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,

but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.
14
Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
    I, the Lord, have spoken!”
